First, feel free to call our office for a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation during which the therapist will gather basic information from you regarding you or your child’s needs. The therapist will then set a mutually convenient time to conduct an intake with you or your child (or both) to gain further information. After the intake, the therapist will determine a treatment plan that makes sense for you and your family. Typically, this will involve weekly 45-minute sessions. Other options include biweekly treatment or alternating child and parent sessions every other week.

Currently, our office provides individual therapy sessions for children, adolescents, and adults. We look forward to providing group offerings in the future. Check back for more information!

At Five Towns Psychology, we utilize evidence-based techniques, which is a fancy way of saying that our methods are backed by research. One such method is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which focuses on the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT is unlike traditional talk therapy in that the client and therapist are seen as co-collaborators towards change. Our work is also informed by elements from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a type of CBT that provides direct skills training in emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and mindfulness.

This is the magic question and unfortunately there is no magic answer. What we can tell you is that when utilizing evidence-based techniques, the intention is for treatment to be short-term. In fact, we want you to have our knowledge so that you can ultimately implement skills on your own and in essence become your own therapist.

Currently, our office is open for telehealth appointments only. We look forward to providing in-person sessions in the near future.

The No Surprises Act is a new law that protects you from unexpected medical bills, such as the ones you might receive at the emergency room if you are charged for out-of-network care. It applies to therapy too, though.

Under the No Surprises Act, you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of how much your treatment will cost, approximately how many sessions you will need, and what your diagnosis is. The Good Faith Estimate is valid for 12 months or until your condition or diagnosis change.

At Five Towns Psychology, while we are not in-network with any insurance providers, we understand that our clients may still wish to
use their out-of-network benefits for reimbursement. Many clients have out-of-network benefits, but may not understand how to use them.

We’ve partnered with Nirvana Health, a company that advocates on behalf of therapy seekers, to provide transparency into your out-of-network benefits so that you have greater insight into what reimbursement is possible with your plan.

Use our Peace of Mind Coverage Calculator to estimate how much you can expect to pay for out-of-network therapy.
